of the Cosmic Clock

Located 260 kilometers South West of Delhi, Jaipur the capital of Rajasthan in India count 3,5 millions of citizen. It would appear that Jaipur is the only town in India conceived by a town planner.

Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II (1688-1743) set out to create Jaipur several kilometers from Amber, the ancient Rajput capital, in the early 18th century. He conceived the town with streets laid out in perfectly straight lines.

Jaipur rises within high ramparts, which are still well preserved. The majority of the buildings built of pink sandstones or painted pink, remain in good condition and convey the city a distinctive charm. Jaipur is a city endowed with several beautiful monuments amongst them: the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), the City Palace and the open air Jantar Mantar Observatory.
